Nursing Care and Medical Directives

Be in charge of your medical care - even when you are not able to advocate for yourself

Medical directives are written, legal documents that state the type of care you want, in the case you are unable to advocate or speak for yourself. They are a set of legal documents that you create in advance, that instructs medical staff on the type and level of life sustaining care you want in the case you are injured, or have a medical emergency that gives your next of kin, family and loved ones clear directions as to your wishes.

I am not a lawyer and I do not give legal advice.

However, I can help you  understand the clinical aspects of your nursing care choices, to help you make, planned informed decisions about the type of care you can and want to receive in the case you are not able to speak for yourself. It also provides your loved ones with the peace of mind they are doing the right thing for you.

I have helped provide clinical education and coaching to help navigate the difficult decision making process. Let me help it easier for you too.

Nursing Care Advocacy

Patricia, CO

I needed guidance regarding end-of-life issues for my family including guidelines regarding Do Not Resuscitate orders, being aware of the early symptoms of dementia, and the most practical issues, like what to put on jewelry, keychains, and in your wallet for early responders. It's all the information one needs to deal with the most uncomfortable of family issues.

Karen was kind, sympathetic, and very straight-forward - no beating around the bush. She was patient with me when I asked
the same questions more than once. Her experience as a nurse leader
and as a hospice nurse means she has directly worked with the early responders, health personnel, and family members during medical crises. So, her information is relevant. It's not theory; it's about what really happens.

I now feel much more prepared to deal with these issues, should they arise for our family.
