How do I know how long I need to be coached for?
It varies upon you or your individual health needs and goals. I absolutely know from a life of nursing experience, that achieving any health related goal for improvement takes commitment from a client who is truly serious about their health and quality life. Speaking from experience, it takes a minimum of 12 weeks to implement a health plan, and start making changes. But to really instill new lifestyle habits, adjustments and routines that are sustainable, where you'll see actual real, objective change markers in your health, like blood samples, labs, and measurable results like blood pressure, blood sugar, A1C and more will take at least 6 months. My programs work in tandem with your doctor's orders and timelines, and these are the time frames that work for reassessing.
The monthly membership allows you to stop when needed, restart, drop in as needed with easy, flexible access to your own private nurse!
What if I don't want to continue any longer?
That's easy, you can cancel any time. After your initial non refundable commitment fee, monthly membership charges can be stopped at any time.
Why don't you just do a 6 week or 12 week coaching program?
Because

Certified health and wellness coach
Not all certified health coaches are equal. A certified health and wellness coach can be:
-
someone who is not formerly trained or educated in health and just has an interest
-
They can take additional certifications in a specialty area to become an expert
-
someone who is formerly trained, educated and highly qualified an a health or medical specialty
They have usually taken 5-8 months learning how to coach someone, but not necessarily learned about the.,
But, I do want to stress that a coaching certification to coach is valuable and necessary. Just make sure to find out what specialty health training, education, knowledge and experience they have to be expert in the area they are coaching on. Many coaches say they don't need to be an expert in the area to coach someone. But, having experience and background knowledge in a subject, especially in health adds a whole other level to be able to educate and inform about the "why" for a client to be able to embrace the reason for change being necessary.
There are many many highly trained experts in specialty areas of health, like a dietitian, physical therapist, athletic trainer, diabetes nurse, etc. who can help in specific focused areas, depending on your particular needs. If you want to learn how to get physically fit - then an licensed or certified athletic trainer is what you need. If your main focus is you want to know how to eat a more healthy diet, you'll benefit from working with a dietitian who coaches. Same if you have type II diabetes you may want to work with a nurse who knows about diabetes management, diets, results, effects on the body, signs and symptoms of changes, or a dietician if you need to learn about food types, create food plans, etc.
Where does a nurse coach fit in?
A nurse is clinically trained and most importantly licensed by the state(s) to manage the care, recovery and preventative care of a patient, based on the physician's diagnosis. Nurses can focus on a specialty are like cardiovascular health, cancer journey, healthcare navigation, case management, etc. A registered nurse is able to assess, create nursing care diagnoses and implement nursing care plan for recovery or prevention. Nurses commonly perform these duties at bedside - hospital, post acute care, skilled nursing facilities, in the home, or as "case" managers overseeing the patient care plan, reassessing the progress and adjusting care plans. We are the ones that manage overall health of someone and will make recommendations for other specialist input like dietary, therapies, etc.
In short, we manage patient care and coach our patient to health. We look at the patient as a whole - not just physical needs, but also mental health, stress management, social influences, dietary, strength, abilities, and much more. Nurses are the ones who identify needs and manage a person's overall health. We are trained to coach our patients as part of our normal workflows.

How to choose a health coach
There are a multitude of health and wellness coaches out there, that do a fantastic job of coaching. From purely coaching people in the wellness, managing stress with mindfulness, meditation and motivational concepts to purely coaching through a health situation. There are those who are recently certified as a health and wellness coach and get some health training in a specific area they have a passion for and they all can do a great job.
A nurse health coach is a totally different experience. We have gone through at least 4 years of clinical, medical, social, lifestyle, diet, education to earn a degree, then passed the NCLEX national exam to attain a license to practice as a nurse, just as doctor is licensed. Nurses provide care planning, carry out the treatment plan based on doctors orders, we assess, monitor for change and work with the patient and family to co-create a health recovery plan. We are held to accountability at the state and national level nd have to have yearly continuing education to maintain our right to practice.
A nurse health coach has years of clinical experience and is trained holistically to treat the whole patient - that means mental health and wellbeing, physical ailments, preventative care based on able to educate on
